Very Creative

I love sewing (duh!!!).  But I also adore being creative and anything to do with being creative and fashion is always intriquing to me.

Part of what I hope to do and make an endeavor to do here is to talk about sewing and upgrading your skills and quality of your sewing, but also about fashion.  I want to see you not only create your garments beautifully, but fashionably as well.

That includes accessories as much as clothes.  And as much as I love the new trends in fashion, in will come new accessories to match the new proportions, lines and styles of this new trend.

One of the things I’ve noticed is the (return???) preponderance of the bib necklace.  And what makes this so much fun is that yes you can go out and buy one, but they are just as fun to make.

This is one I made for me out of some copper Walt had in his workshop (which is a treasure trove of interesting and creative material).  I drew out these irregularly shaped trapezoids, then he cut them for me (it’s so handy having a creative guy around the house!), and then we banged them up with anything we could find (my favorite was a screw with ginormous threads that made great short parallel lines on the copper).  So after an appropriate amount of banging I had these little trapezoid pieces that looked like a lot of fun….eventually they made up into this necklace in a bib shape.

But while I was perusing around looking for ideas and inspiration, I found this article in Bazaar, about this site, that is just full of creative ideas. Some are a little simplistic and juvenile, but some are really neat, and if nothing else it will cause you to think about a bib necklace in a whole new way.
