Anymore fashion shows are just that….SHOWS! They have been in Europe for a long time – almost dog and pony shows, but there’s some meat to the good ones. The others are just frou-frou!
Here’s an interesting article on the shows in the US and how they have progressed. While there used to be around 100-ish couture shows in Paris after World War II, there are about 18 now, which is exactly the opposite of the US. Now if you want to show couture, you must register with the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, which means that if you aren’t registered with them, even though what you’re doing is haute couture, it’s not really haute couture….oh, well, you know what I mean.
But what’s also as interesting is scroll on down to see the show outside the show….on the street. This is a lot of the fashion that I like to watch. Granted, some of it is for show, but some of it actually is really great stuff, and practical stuff that is full of inspiration for us!!!
