This is a new addition to the dictionary, and sometimes I think we have additions so fast it’s hard to keep up with them. Like entering hashtag (#) SEW, and you get all the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) results….NO!!!! I WANT TO SEW NOT SEO!!!
OK – I’ve had my rant for the day! Back to selfies. One of the thing I love the most about this, is the pure delight, joy and pleasure each one of these show.
Cause each one of these creators has accomplished what he/she wanted and are thrilled – so thrilled they want to share their delight, happiness and joy.
Hopefully you don’t feel self-conscious about this, cause this is so empowering not only to the selfie her/himself but to those who see it.
What I loved about the Great British Sewing Bee, is that it brought sewing to everyone. People got to see how regular people sew; how they solved their problems; and how it’s OK to make mistakes or to fudge here and there (this was the best part in my book), because we’re not perfect.
It also was a shameless and flagrant huckster of camaraderie. I think this is what I miss most about my days in class when I was learning to sew, and hopefully I can pass on a little of this in my classes.
But in the selfies – it’s the effort that shows through, and it’s exhibited most with the smiles and happy eyes of the subjects. It’s hard to disguise.
Yes, you can be stylish beyond your wildest dreams.
Yes, you can fit your garments.
Yes, you be a little greener (for the environment).
And yes, you can save money.
But the unsung hero/heroine here?……the immense satisfaction and pat on the back for a job well done! But be careful, this is very addictive!
