So as we move from one decade to another, the big change that most of us in sewing will experience is the change in fashion. I’m really excited about this cause we are moving into a pretty, flattering, dress-up time in fashion which is way so long overdue.
But that means we’re also going to have some really big changes in sewing as well as the mindset of the new fashion we will be wearing. We will have a new mindset as well as new fashion, which is what fashion is always all about.
That brings on new questions and new techniques and sometimes even am I even close to doing this right? Because what we’re doing is so new, we may not know what’s right about it and what’s not. That means mistakes. Yes, this is the time to go hide the children and make sure that everyone has on their noise-canceling headgear because we all know what’s next……&*^(%^&%$%#$$%%*&^)*)*(()*^(*&^%&*$O& – that’s about as succinct as I can put it. Circa Errata or as we Anglophiles more commonly know it – about mistakes – is understanding what is happening with mistakes, because let me tell you – in the new fashion and in sewing that new fashion, you’re gerna get them!
Here are some quick checkpoints to get your head wrapped around mistakes and what is really going on.
Although we may think that this is a bunch of hooey, the truth is that this is really how life works. This is also what makes us so familiar with reality because of the effort we make to create the accomplishments which bring us the unending joy. Really, take a look at one of your best accomplishments in your closet and look me straight in the face and tell me that you don’t get a sense of wonder and awe at your own ability to do something like this, even if it’s simply, “Oh I like that – that turned out very well.”
Welcome to the new year! Welcome to the new decade! Welcome to a whole new fashion trend!
