Inspiration Journal: Maximize Your Creativity

One of my favorite ways to get inspired is to visit high-end retail stores, but I needed a way to remember all the great ideas I would get from one of these outings. This workbook and ebook is the perfect solution.

One of my favorite ways to get inspired is to visit high-end retail stores. I get all dressed up and just walk through.

There’s a problem with this, as simple as this sounds. I’m hit with so many ideas, that there’s no way I can remember half of them, much less just a few. I had to figure out a way to record all these without being obvious in the store, and still documenting my ideas so I could use them later.

This is that Ebook and Workbook for recording your ideas.

Believe me, all it takes is a few notes and some sketches. I know, I can hear you already: “But Claire, I’m not an artist!” You don’t have to be. A quick sketch is often all it takes. I’ve included some examples in the image gallery here.

You can see that sometimes I drew pictures or drawings of certain details that I wanted to note and remember later. And because you can make the book any size (15 pages, 3 pages, 400 pages), that allows you to take just as many or few sketches or notes as you need.

You don’t need to fill out all the information on each page. These categories are there to remind you – so that later in your sewing space, you aren’t thinking, “Gee, I wish I would have written down the fabric content,” or “I’d love to remember what that seam did.” This way you have all the reminders and info right at your fingertips while you’re remembering the design and all the important stuff without all the peripheral mumbo-jumbo that you don’t need to remember.

But that’s not all. If you think this book is for actual shopping. There’s more. This book is just as indispensable when you’re on the internet.

I mean really – how many times have you see a dress on the internet or a publication and couldn’t remember it later. Honestly, every day is sometimes like a new day to me and if I don’t write it down – it’s gone!!! But with this handy little Ebook, you don’t have to worry about remembering these things. Instead you can concentrate on the good stuff, like you’re kids’ graduation from college – don’t miss that!!!

Sites that cater to business types and entrepreneurs and artists, all say the same thing: Keep a notebook close by. This is because these professionals all know that taking notes and writing down your ideas quickly when you have them makes you that much more creative and productive. That’s exactly what this Ebook and Workbook were designed to do for you.

They will enable you to take notes while perusing magazines, shopping, on the internet or just watching folks on the street. This is something that big-time designers do as well. It’s a time-saver and frustration-reducer! And the cool thing is that you can print this out as many times as you like! It includes instructions for printing and assembling into a book format.

You can see that I don’t fill out all the information. All I need is the little sketch, which is just sometimes a couple of lines, and then I draw emphasis to what I liked about the garment, and may include fabric content or color. Once you get that much information down, you’ve got it.

This is really just a reminder to jog your memory. If it doesn’t jog your memory, then it wasn’t all that great to begin with!!!
